Web 2.0 Tool: Wizer

Hello! This post is going to be all about a Web 2.0 tool I found called Wizer! Wizer is a website that allows you to create interactive worksheets for your students, browse and make use of worksheets created by other educators, and share your own worksheets that you have created with others in the Wizer community. You can create many different kinds of worksheets for a variety of grade levels and subject areas. If you'd like to see an example of what you can create using the website, you can click here to view a 7th grade math worksheet I have created! If you are interested in learning more, or would like more of an in-depth look into the different features of Wizer before taking the plunge and creating an account, I have created a brief tutorial that you can watch by clicking here.

One of my favorite things about Wizer is all of the different types of tasks that you can use on your worksheets. But I think that above all, my favorite of these tasks is the "draw" task. I would mainly use this task to allow students to easily work out math problems so that they do not have to use a pen and paper when completing the worksheet, and so that I'm able to see their work. But, this would be a helpful tool for really any class and allows students who have a more creative side, to express their creativity! You could have students draw an image of their favorite character from a story, or maybe to draw a map for a country or continent. The opportunities are really endless! This tool is also nice because it will clean up your lines to make them more smooth after you draw them, you can change the tools you use for different thicknesses for your lines, and you can change the color of your lines among a number of other features.

As a whole, Wizer really is a very useful tool for educators to use in the classroom. It allows for a more engaging experience for the students with the many different tasks you can have the students complete, and can limit some of the work the teacher has to complete since it will automatically grade the worksheets. Outside of the classroom, the ability to share your worksheets with others is also helpful in creating a community for educators and you may even inspire others by sharing your resources with them!
